Sharing knowledge and building local connections across Springfield and Ipswich.
In 2026, our team has taken part in multiple local presentations, fundraising, school events and community initiatives. We are continuing to develop these sessions as a regular part of how we support Springfield and Ipswich.
It’s not our slogan, but it seems to be becoming one: “community education means showing up”.
All these sessions give us a chance to hear what people find confusing, so we can focus on the questions that matter to them, and can understand our community better.

Practical Information and Time for Your Questions
Answering questions at Gailes Community House
At Gailes Community House, our Director Cathy Vo led a discussion about Wills, estate planning and Enduring Powers of Attorney.
Questions included:
- Can a couple have one Will?
- Do I need to register my Will?
- What is the difference between an executor and an attorney?
- Can I appoint someone interstate or overseas as my executor?
- Why might I need an Enduring Power of Attorney?
Attendees could also raise their own questions during the presentation, helping shape the discussion around what they wanted to understand.
Planning for Tomorrow with Ipswich Thriving Seniors
In partnership with Ipswich Thriving Seniors, our team contributed to Planning for Tomorrow: Wills & Estates, presented by Cathy Vo at the YMCA.
The session explored Wills and estate planning, including Enduring Powers of Attorney and Advance Health Directives, with opportunities for attendees to ask questions throughout the discussion.
“I attended your information session this morning at the YMCA and found it most informative.”
This is the feedback that Cathy received afterwards. And this is the reason why we continue to conduct sessions like these.
Discussing future planning at Goodna Neighbourhood House
At Goodna Neighbourhood House, Cathy presented a session covering Wills, estate planning and Enduring Powers of Attorney.
The discussion gave local residents an opportunity to learn about these documents and consider the planning decisions that may be relevant to their circumstances.
Connecting with veterans at The Last Post Expo
Following an invitation from Ipswich Railway RSL, our team was represented by Cathy Vo and Tracey McClelland at The Last Post Expo in East Ipswich.
Cathy presented on Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney, with opportunities for local veterans and community members to ask questions and clarify the planning considerations involved.
Building Connections Across Our Community
Our community involvement also includes helping students explore career options and supporting local causes.
Exploring legal careers at Springfield Central State High School
Cathy joined a panel of industry professionals at Future in Focus: Careers in Justice, sharing her journey into law and advice for students considering the justice sector.
Students and parents stayed back afterwards to ask about pathways into the profession. This gave them time to explore their interests directly with someone working in the field.
Supporting the Charity Golf Day for Hannah’s House
Our team also supported the Charity Golf Day for Hannah’s House, joining local businesses and community supporters for an event dedicated to helping young women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
It was another opportunity to contribute alongside the sponsors, volunteers and participants supporting a local cause.
Continuing Our Community Involvement
The questions raised at these events help us understand what people want to know. They also give us a way to build ongoing relationships with the schools, groups and organisations that bring our community together.
We want community involvement to remain a regular part of how GLG Legal Springfield works. Thank you to everyone who has welcomed us, worked alongside us or joined the conversation.
